Making The Switch From The Bounty Hunter by Linh
As more women seek to secure financial and social stability in their careers before entering the realm of motherhood, films have reflected and reinforced the options mothers-to-be face in real life to get pregnant.
Following films such as Baby Mamma (surrogacy) and The Back Up Plan (Invitro fertilisation), The Switch is the latest film about a woman’s attempt at artificial insemination to produce a child.
The disastrous un-romantic non-comedy The Bounty Hunter could become a minor blip in Jennifer Aniston’s film career thanks to her upcoming dramedy The Switch, formerly titled The Baster.
Bearing similar plotlines to the recent rom-com The Back Up Plan by another Jennifer (Lopez), Aniston’s version seems to have more heart and seriousness about parenting responsibilities.
Kassie, the female lead is played by Jennifer Aniston, with fabulous support cast that includes Jason Bateman as Wally, the likely father of her son, and Jeff Goldblum as Wally’s best friend.
After a night of drunkenness and partying, Wally accidentally spills Kassie’s sperm donor's semen and in a panic, replaces it with his own semen. Seven years later, Kassie re-appears in Wally’s life with her son Sebastian (Thomas Robinson) and Wally begins to notice similar personal traits, making him suspect that Sebastian could be his son.
The Switch comes from the creative team of Juno and Little Miss Sunshine, so it could be the next big hit for Jennifer Aniston after the surprise success of Marley and Me.
