Vampire Vibes by Linh
The vampire-themed films continue its run into cinemas for at least the next few months – or until the next installment of the Twilight Saga is released. Upcoming blood-sucking movies include the Twilight parody Vampires Suck, The Dead Matter and the American re-make of the Swedish film Let The Right One In, re-titled as Let Me In.
Vampires Suck was originally titled Vampires Spoof, but changed its name to become self-reflexive. The film takes a parodistic bite into vampires from the Twilight Saga franchise as well as making a proverbial stab at Alice In Wonderland. Not exactly a must-see movie, but it does have a humourous Edward versus Jacob fan stoush.

Let Me In is the American re-make of the excellent Swedish film Let The Right One In, based on the best-selling Swedish novel Lat den Ratte Komma In (Let the Right One In) by John Ajvide Lindqvist, who also wrote screenplay for the Swedish film.
Matt Reeves, who directed Cloverfield, is at the helm of Let Me In and the cast of young actors Kodi Smit McPhee (The Road) and Chloe Grace Moretz (Kick Ass), alongside Academy Award nominee Richard Jenkins (The Visitor), make this US version watchable. The storyline follows the original Swedish film, about a twelve year old boy named Owen (Kodi Smit McPhee) who is viciously bullied by his classmates and neglected by his divorcing parents. Owen starts to plot revenge on his tormentors when he meets his new neighbour, Abby (Chloe Grace Moretz) who lives with her father (Richard Jenkins). He opens up to her and they become close friends, until Owen notices several murders in his neighbourhood. He questions Abby and discovers her secret.

The Dead Matter is a supernatural thriller about a grief-stricken young woman named Gretchen, who obtains a mysterious relic with occult powers. Gretchen’s desire to reconnect with her dead brother using the relic, draws her into the supernatural world of vampirism and the living dead.
The Dead Matter is directed, composed, produced and written by Edward Douglas, and stars Andrew Divoff (Lost, CSI:Miami, Indiana Jones 4), Jason Carter (Babylon 5, Angel), and Tom Savini (Dawn of the Dead, Friday the 13th).
