Since the Adelaide Film Festival premiered in 2003, its screenings of films and documentaries have become increasingly popular and placed Adelaide on the celluoid map for film-makers, directors, actors and most importantly, film lovers.
It even won the Inside Film Award for 'Festival of the Year' in 2007.
This year, there is a smorgasbord of sumptuous short films, features, documentaries, animated shorts, and Australian and international productions to entice the eyeballs.
There are also special events such as forums and symposiums with guest film directors and producers, a live visually spectacular installation called The Dome Project, video exhibitions and viewers can relax in The Garden Of Unearthly Delights as they watch Tropfest screening live from Sydney.
I have very little time these days and even less money, but that wouldn't keep me, and hopefully many others, from attending the Adelaide Film Festival, which is a fantastic film event that engages, entertains and excites the senses.

World premiere of Beautiful, directed by Dean O'Flaherty
Who: Stars Deborra Lee-Furness, Sebastian Gregory, Tahyna Tozzi, Erik Thomson
What : A drama about introverted 14 year old Daniel whose crush on 16 year old Suzy leads to dangerous obssession, forbidden knowledge and murder.
World premiere of Last Ride, directed by Glendyn Ivin
Who: Stars Hugo Weaving, Tom Russell, Anita Hegh, John Brumpton
What: A road movie about an ex-con who commits a violent crime and takes his son with him, escaping into the desert and deciding what's best for both of them. Eventually, his son is forced to make the final decision with devastating effects on both their lives.
World premiere of Closed For Winter, directed by James Bogle
Who: Stars Natalie Imbruglia, Tony Martin, Deborah Kennedy, Daniel Frederiksen
What: Based on Georgia Blain's novel about a young girl whose sister mysteriously disappears while at the beach, and the effect it has on the sister and mother twenty years later.

Australian premiere of A Film With Me In It, directed by Ian Fitzgibbon
Who: Stars Dylan Moran, Mark Doherty, Keith Allen, Amy Huberman
What: An Irish dark comedy about an aspiring screenwriter and his unemployed actor friend who discuss the film they are about to make, while they deal with minor aggravations, accidental homicides, failing relationships and financial woes.
Australian premiere of Li Chun, directed by Gu Changwei
Who: Stars Jiang Wenli, Li Guangjie, Wu Guohua, Jiao Gang
What: A talented Chinese opera singer fervently pursues her musical dream despite the obstacles, and stays true to herself no matter how much pain she endures.
Australian premiere of Che (Parts 1 and 2), directed by Steven Soderbergh
Who: Benicio Del Toro, Catalina Sandrino Moreno, Julia Ormond, Franka Potente
What: An intimate portrait of Ernesto 'Che' Guevara with Part One focussed on Fidel Castro and Che overthrowing the corrupt dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista, and Part Two depicts post-Cuban Revolution where Che re-emerges in Bolivia and organises another Latin American revolution which eventually costs Che his life.
